iOS 9 Reportedly Causing Data Connectivity Issues

Have you been on the iOS community forums lately? If you have then you’ve probably noticed them being overwhelmed with posts from iPhone and iPad users complaining about a major bug in iOS 9’s cellular data. This bug, according to forum posts, leads to internet connectivity issues, mobile data connection problems, and internal configuration issues that include cellular data toggle being entirely grayed out. In addition to that, other users have also reported that some apps are unable to access the internet through their cellular data.

If you are having some or all of these problems and you are thinking about troubleshooting it yourself, then you need to ensure that your device is running the latest version of iOS, which is iOS 9.0.2, as this version brings a lot of bug fixes that includes one for the cellular data connectivity issue. If you want to check to see which iOS versions you have then go to General, then Settings, and then Software Update on your iOS device. On the other hand, you can update your device to the latest iOS through iTunes by connecting your iPhone or iPad to your computer and the selecting Download and Install Update whenever the prompt appears on the screen.

Resetting your network settings is one of the easiest ways to resolve a lot of the common internet and cellular data connectivity issues. To do this, open Settings, go to General, and select Reset. Once you hit Reset Network Settings, a message will ask you to enter your passcode for resetting the device. Enter the code and confirm to erase all custom network settings for that device. Once the settings are reset, the device will boot to the Home Screen. From here, restart the device by powering it off and the on again. Once you’re rebooted back to the Home Screen, enable the cellular or 3G/LTE data option to verify that your device can establish a connection.

If this doesn’t help then try updating your device with the latest update from your carrier. To do this, launch Settings, select General, and hit the About button. Wait for your device to connect to the update server. If the internet connection is working, then the update should clearly appear on your device’s screen along with the prompt, “Carrier Settings Update: New Settings Are Available. Would you like to update them now?” Tap on the update button to start the download and installation process. Wait until everything is finished and the network will reset to refresh your device with the updated settings.

If neither of these options work then your last option is to do a full factory reset. Make sure you backup your data and settings via iTunes before doing this, otherwise you’ll lose everything. To do a factory reset, launch iTunes on your computer and connect your device. Right click on the phone icon in iTunes and select Back Up from the menu. When prompted, create an encrypted backup as this stores all of your passwords and health data. Once everything is backed up reset your device to the factory defaults. To do this, go to Settings, then General, then Reset, then Reset All Content And Settings. This process could take anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes and will wipe any and all data from your device. Doing this will have your device looking brand new. Once you’ve booted back up, connect to iTunes and select Restore from Backup to restore the latest backup files. Go back into Settings and turn on cellular data or mobile data and check your connectivity. If they are, great, if not then you may have to take your device to an Apple Store and have them fix it.

Give these methods a shot if you are experiencing the same problems some very unhappy users on the iOS community forums are. Let us know in the comments which method worked for you and what kind of problems you were experiencing!

Apple Sells 13 Million iPhone 6S Devices In First Weekend

Apple has officially released its newest smartphones, the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. Even though the devices have only been on the market for less than a week, they have already posted some very impressive sales numbers. According to a recent sales report from Apple, the company has sold over 13 million new devices over the weekend, which is a new record for the iPhone.

According to Apple CEO Tim Cook’s press statement, “Sales for iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first-weekend sales results in Apple’s history. Customers’ feedback is incredible and they are loving 3D Touch and Live Photos, and we can’t wait to bring the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus to customers in even more countries on October 9th.”

So what’s the reason for such high sales numbers? Probably the fact that Apple included China in its opening weekend sales. China passed over Europe to become Apple’s second biggest market earlier in the year, with sales growing three times faster than in North and South America. To compare, Apple sold 10 million units of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in its opening weekend last year and 9 million units of the iPhone 5S and 5C the year before that. In both cases, the launch of the smartphones in China was delayed.

So what’s new with the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus? Well for starters, these new smartphones come preloaded with Apple’s latest iOS 9 operating system. In addition to that, the new phones come with the new A9 chip with 64-bit architecture and M9 motion coprocessor. There’s 2GB of RAM as well as a 12MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. 4K resolution is also supported at 30fps along with 4.2 Bluetooth.

Granted the changes aren’t astounding, but they are decent. Are they enough for people to upgrade from the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus to the iPhone 6S or 6S Plus? Probably not. But they are good enough to get people to go from an iPhone 5 model (or earlier) and, maybe, good enough for some people to make the jump from an Android device to an Apple.

Apple Seeks Total Dominance Over Your Entire Life

Apple is trying very hard to sneak its way into your entire life. On Monday, the company released its new updates on the software that iPhones, iPads, Macs and Apple Watches run on. It also revealed the iOS 9 and Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan during the conference. A major plus with Apple’s operating system is how well it has its devices work together.

The Apple company’s message is pretty much becoming reality, “It’s Apple’s world, you’re just living in it.” Last year, the iPhone and Mac computer were shown working hand-in-hand, allowing you to start emails or phone calls on either your smartphone or computer and having the option of switching to the other one. As of this year, Apple has branched off into our cars and homes and even how we buy things and listen to music.

The only thing holding you back from allowing Apple to run your life could possibly be finances. The only way to have all your Apple devices work properly would be to completely commit to the Apple ecosystem. Not only do you need an iPhone or MacBook, but you also need to upgrade all your household appliances to smart-home products, so they can work off the HomeKit software. This also means buying a whole new car, a CarPlay-compatible car to be exact, as well as buying the Apple Music streaming service. We’re talking about a LOT of money going into ALL new products!

One of the biggest highlights of Monday’s conference was Apple announcing a whole new music service called Apple Music. This is a $10 a month subscription streaming service, kind of like Spotify. Apple is making an app for Apple Music for Android devices too, which is a huge step for the company. It’ll be the first time ever that Apple releases an app for another smartphone!

Apple also announced two other softwares that would be open sourced. Its ResearchKit software is designed to help build apps and collect data for patients in an easier way for medical professionals. Swift is a coding language used to help make apps for Mac and iOS.

All in all, Apple is pretty much trying to say that its products will work better if you buy all the other appliances that go with it. Although Apple is making an app for their Apple Music on Androids, it still is going to run better on iPhones and iPads, especially with all the features that will be available with it. Apple is even upgrading Siri to know you on a more personal level, such as specific times of the day you’d like to work out and even what kind of music you mostly listen to. So be prepared for the next time you plan to work out and plug your headphones in and Siri will already be playing your type of music for your workout. Just don’t expect to get the same results with Apple Music using the Google Now voice assistant.

Apple isn’t only focused on music, it’s also trying to focus on making a commonly better home experience with its HomeKit software. They’re trying to get their products capability better by connecting with household products like window blinds or light bulbs. The company also said that the iOS 9 software’s CarPlay element will be able to tap into your vehicle’s data. Meaning, you won’t have to plug in your iPhone to your car with a Lightning connector, it’ll be able to just connect on its own.

Last, but certainly not least, Apple is also launching another app for Android called “Move to iOS.” It is an app to help convince Android smartphone users to switch over to iPhones. Apparently Apple just won’t take NO for an answer, “Just download the Move to iOS app to wirelessly switch from your Android device to your new iOS device.” This app will come out with iOS 9 later on this year. Just prepare yourself on seeing Apple trying to be a part of everything and anything.

iOS 9: Everything You Need To Know

9There are going to be a lot of awesome things that come along with iOS 9. Siri is getting a lot of huge improvements, there is a new split screen feature that allows you to run several different apps at the same time, better battery life, and a new Low Power mode are all things we have to look forward to.

A lot of people out there are wondering when they will be able to get their hands on iOS 9, or if their devices will even be compatible. Every year there is a new list of devices that aren’t able to get the new update. Some people are also scared that they might have to delete a ton of stuff to even be able to download the new operating system like many did when iOS 8 came out. That was a catastrophe. Well, if you have any of this on your mind, we have the answers. So don’t worry.

iOS 9 release date
Apple is going about this release a little bit differently than in the past. Now there will not only be a Developer Beta, but there will also be a public beta that you can get before the official release. Even though that is super cool, and it would be awesome to get a crack at it before everyone else, you should keep in mind that the OS will be unstable until the official release. So think for a bit before you commit.

Here is the release schedule:

Developer Beta: Available now
Public Beta: Available in early July
Official release of iOS 9: September

Will my device get iOS 9?
Like I said earlier, every year there is a list of devices that don’t make the cut and don’t get to have the new operating system. This makes sense though. Outdated devices sometimes have a lot of trouble running new features and codes that they weren’t designed for, and creating a stripped down version of the operating system wouldn’t make any sense because of how many key features would be left out. BUT, you should be glad to know that this year’s list is exactly the same as it was when iOS 8 came out. If you got the update then, you’ll get it this time around as well.

Space requirements
Ah, the moment you have all been waiting for. With iOS 8, lots of people had to tragically delete almost everything on their device to fit it. And then, didn’t have much storage space to do anything else with. The update last year was 4.6GB, which is ridiculous. This year, you will be pleased to know that iOS 9 will only take up 1.3GB of space. That is 350% less. So we all have that to be happy about.
