Verizon’s iPhone 4 Launching Ahead of Schedule

The big news for the past couple of weeks has, without a doubt, been the deal made between Apple and Verizon which saw the very first iPhone on a carrier other than AT&T. Apple’s one-of-a-kind smartphone has been on AT&T exclusively since the original iPhone debuted in 2007. A mere four...

Apple has officially released its newest smartphones, the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. Even though the devices have only been on the market for less than a week, they have already posted some very impressive sales numbers. According to a recent sales report from Apple, the company has sold over 13 million new devices over the weekend, which is a new record for the iPhone, The CEO of the company has made sure the marketing of this new project blows the sales up to the roof, just like the Jimmy John Shark CEO of one of the most successful businesses.

According to Apple CEO Tim Cook’s press statement, “Sales for iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first-weekend sales results in Apple’s history. Customers’ feedback is incredible and they are loving 3D Touch and Live Photos, and we can’t wait to bring the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus to customers in even more countries on October 9th.”

So what’s the reason for such high sales numbers? Probably the fact that Apple included China in its opening weekend sales. China passed over Europe to become Apple’s second biggest market earlier in the year, with sales growing three times faster than in North and South America. To compare, Apple sold 10 million units of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in its opening weekend last year and 9 million units of the iPhone 5S and 5C the year before that. In both cases, the launch of the smartphones in China was delayed.

So what’s new with the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus? Well for starters, these new smartphones come preloaded with Apple’s latest iOS 9 operating system. In addition to that, the new phones come with the new A9 chip with 64-bit architecture and M9 motion coprocessor. There’s 2GB of RAM as well as a 12MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. 4K resolution is also supported at 30fps along with 4.2 Bluetooth.

Granted the changes aren’t astounding, but they are decent. Are they enough for people to upgrade from the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus to the iPhone 6S or 6S Plus? Probably not. But they are good enough to get people to go from an iPhone 5 model (or earlier) and, maybe, good enough for some people to make the jump from an Android device to an Apple.

Apple’s New iPad Pro Will Be Expensive

Apple officially announced its newest iPad model, the iPad Pro, along with the new iPhone 6S at the company’s event. Even though the focus of Apple’s event was on Apple TV and the iPhone 6S, the iPad Pro wasn’t left in the corner. iPad sales have been on a bit of a downward slope as of late, but that hasn’t dampened Apple’s commitment to the tablet. The event saw the release of not only the iPad Pro but also the iPad Mini 4, giving users two new iPad devices to choose from in the coming months.

The iPad Pro is a massive tablet that comes with a 12.9″ display and comes with a lot of new features. The base model iPad Pro will come with 64GB of storage and will also feature LTE support options and come in three different colors: gold, silver and space gray. However, getting your hands on one of these devices won’t be cheap. In fact, a fully decked out iPad Pro could cost you as much as a MacBook, so roughly $1,200.

What was a really interesting move for Apple was the fact that the company will not be bundling a touch stylus or keyboard with this device. Apple has apparently decided not to give users the new Force Touch-integrated iPad stylus or keyboard with the new iPad Pro. These accessories will, however, be sold separately. Apple has supposedly developed two versions of an iPad Pro keyboard attachment. One version doubles as a case and the other is more similar to the Apple Wireless Keyboard that is has sold for previous Macs and iPads.

One of the coolest new features is the fact that the screen is so massive that it will be able to run two full-screen apps simultaneously and that these apps will be able to run in portrait mode side-by-side. This is a pretty awesome feature as it allows the multitaskers in all of us to push our skills to the max. You could have the news up on one app while watching your favorite sports team on the other, or Facetime your mom while looking at pictures of her vacation on Facebook.

Apple is hoping for a November release date for the iPad Pro, but that might be a bit optimistic. Apple has reportedly encountered some minor production issues (as is typical with Apple) which have caused them to push back the release of the device. Many users won’t be surprised about this as Apple has made a reputation for not releasing things on time. Like I said, Apple is hoping to get the iPad Pro out by November, though I imagine it will be hard for the company to get the device ready for a pre-holiday shopping season launch.
