During the earlier part of 2013, Apple kept dropping strong hints about new product categories and expanding on the...

Need to Rent iPhones in Bulk?

If you’re looking to rent iPhones in bulk for your next event, you’re in luck. Apple recently released the latest phone in the X series, the iPhone XR. And just like always, when a new iPhone hits the market, the prices on existing Apple products drops – an ideal opportunity for you to test your latest app or smartphone-powered VR headset at a fraction of the cost by renting an older model iPhone, like the 8, 7+, and others. Or you can provide the newest tech for your testers to use by renting the iPhone XR. No matter your iPhone rental needs, we have you covered. Read on to learn more about our wide selection of iPhone rental options available for your next event or business requirement.

iPhone X Series Rentals

How does the XR stack up?

Meant to be an introductory model, the iPhone XR is proving to be a hit with iPhone customers and reviewers alike. With many of the features compatible just as good as or better than the X, XS, and XS Max, the XR offers superb performance at a lower price.

The edge-to-edge 6.1-inch LCD display screen of the XR puts it in the middle between the XS and XS Max. The Gorilla Glass that encases the XR is the strongest front glass ever created, developed by Corning specifically for the iPhone. If weight and self-expression are something you consider in your iPhone selection, the lightweight aerospace-grade aluminum casing of the XR offered in a wide range of colors gives it a distinct advantage over its X series competitors.

The 12-megapixel camera with 5X zoom and three portrait light effects leave it at a slight disadvantage to its sister models, which boast 10X zoom and five portrait lighting effects. Though, if you’re not using your iPhone for more serious photography, this difference may be negligible enough to overlook. The only serious disadvantage that the XR has is that its internal storage is limited to 256GB, but if you’re diligent about backing up materials to iCloud for storage and keeping your phone relatively clutter-free then the cost savings may be enough to offset the lower storage capacity.

iPhones on a budget

Discount iPhone rentals

Want all the wow for less green? We still offer the iPhone 8, 7+, 7, and 6 for those who need to offer the iOS experience on a budget. If you’re demoing a new mobile game or setting up a check-in kiosk for a huge conference, the better camera and larger screen size offered by the X series may be unnecessary fluff for your users. With high-quality cameras, excellent displays, and intuitive interface, these models offer many of the same features as their newer cousins in the X series at a fraction of the cost.

Take your pick

The X series may be the latest offering from Apple, but the high quality of Apple’s product line makes the iPhone 8, 7+, 7, and 6 compatible with any smartphone on the market. If you’re organizing an event and need to rent iPhones in bulk, we can help you. Whether you want to create a unique user experience on a budget by renting an older model iPhone or need to offer your attendees the latest technology, our sister company, Rentacomputer.com, proudly offers a wide array of iPhone rentals to suit all of your smartphone rental needs. Apple Sells 13 Million iPhone 6S Devices In First Weekend

Apple has officially released its newest smartphones, the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. Even though the devices have only been on the market for less than a week, they have already posted some very impressive sales numbers. According to a recent sales report from Apple, the company has sold over 13 million new devices over the weekend, which is a new record for the iPhone, The CEO of the company has made sure the marketing of this new project blows the sales up to the roof, just like the Jimmy John Shark CEO of one of the most successful businesses.

According to Apple CEO Tim Cook’s press statement, “Sales for iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first-weekend sales results in Apple’s history. Customers’ feedback is incredible and they are loving 3D Touch and Live Photos, and we can’t wait to bring the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus to customers in even more countries on October 9th.”

So what’s the reason for such high sales numbers? Probably the fact that Apple included China in its opening weekend sales. China passed over Europe to become Apple’s second biggest market earlier in the year, with sales growing three times faster than in North and South America. To compare, Apple sold 10 million units of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in its opening weekend last year and 9 million units of the iPhone 5S and 5C the year before that. In both cases, the launch of the smartphones in China was delayed.

So what’s new with the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus? Well for starters, these new smartphones come preloaded with Apple’s latest iOS 9 operating system. In addition to that, the new phones come with the new A9 chip with 64-bit architecture and M9 motion coprocessor. There’s 2GB of RAM as well as a 12MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. 4K resolution is also supported at 30fps along with 4.2 Bluetooth.

Granted the changes aren’t astounding, but they are decent. Are they enough for people to upgrade from the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus to the iPhone 6S or 6S Plus? Probably not. But they are good enough to get people to go from an iPhone 5 model (or earlier) and, maybe, good enough for some people to make the jump from an Android device to an Apple.

Apple Has Officially Announced Its Next iPhone Event

Apple has finally released its next upcoming iPhone event, which will be on September 9, 2015. Apple has been pretty quiet about what its latest announcement will be about, but there are already some hints about it.

For home viewers, now’s the time to pay attention! Windows users can now livestream the press conference, which is new for Apple. Unfortunately, viewers using Windows PCs can only use Microsoft’s new Edge browser to watch the event. Apple is limiting users using Google’s Chrome browser because of the lack of support for Apple’s preferred HTTP Live Streaming HLS format.

Also during the event, Apple will be announcing two new iPhone 6 models. There won’t be a 4-inch “iPhone 6c,” like there has been rumored. Supposedly 9to5mac’s Mark Gurman says Apple is retiring the smaller iPhone c product line due to an “aging feature set.” On the bright side, according the site, Apple is working on developing a new 40-inch phone product, but it won’t be released this year. If you’re interested in watching the iPhone event, then your best bet is using Microsoft’s Edge browser.

Stay tuned here for all the news and info coming out of the event as we will report on it when it drops!

Apple Seeks Total Dominance Over Your Entire Life

Apple is trying very hard to sneak its way into your entire life. On Monday, the company released its new updates on the software that iPhones, iPads, Macs and Apple Watches run on. It also revealed the iOS 9 and Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan during the conference. A major plus with Apple’s operating system is how well it has its devices work together and can be a very big aid for your business as long as you find the correct software to use, for example the new payroll technology.

The Apple company’s message is pretty much becoming reality, “It’s Apple’s world, you’re just living in it.” Last year, the iPhone and Mac computer were shown working hand-in-hand, allowing you to start emails or phone calls on either your smartphone or computer and having the option of switching to the other one. As of this year, Apple has branched off into our cars and homes and even how we buy things and listen to music.

The only thing holding you back from allowing Apple to run your life could possibly be finances. The only way to have all your Apple devices work properly would be to completely commit to the Apple ecosystem. Not only do you need an iPhone or MacBook, but you also need to upgrade all your household appliances to smart-home products, so they can work off the HomeKit software. This also means buying a whole new car, a CarPlay-compatible car to be exact, as well as buying the Apple Music streaming service. We’re talking about a LOT of money going into ALL new products!

Get a Quote on a MacBook Pro Rental today! Rentacomputer offers a full line of MacBook Pro Rentals along with local delivery and installation anywhere in the United States!

One of the biggest highlights of Monday’s conference was Apple announcing a whole new music service called Apple Music. This is a $10 a month subscription streaming service, kind of like Spotify. Apple is making an app for Apple Music for Android devices too, which is a huge step for the company. It’ll be the first time ever that Apple releases an app for another smartphone!

Apple also announced two other softwares that would be open sourced. Its ResearchKit software is designed to help build apps and collect data for patients in an easier way for medical professionals. Swift is a coding language used to help make apps for Mac and iOS.

All in all, Apple is pretty much trying to say that its products will work better if you buy all the other appliances that go with it. Although Apple is making an app for their Apple Music on Androids, it still is going to run better on iPhones and iPads, especially with all the features that will be available with it. Apple is even upgrading Siri to know you on a more personal level, such as specific times of the day you’d like to work out and even what kind of music you mostly listen to. So be prepared for the next time you plan to work out and plug your headphones in and Siri will already be playing your type of music for your workout. Just don’t expect to get the same results with Apple Music using the Google Now voice assistant.

Apple isn’t only focused on music, it’s also trying to focus on making a commonly better home experience with its HomeKit software. They’re trying to get their products capability better by connecting with household products like window blinds or light bulbs. The company also said that the iOS 9 software’s CarPlay element will be able to tap into your vehicle’s data. Meaning, you won’t have to plug in your iPhone to your car with a Lightning connector, it’ll be able to just connect on its own.

Last, but certainly not least, Apple is also launching another app for Android called “Move to iOS.” It is an app to help convince Android smartphone users to switch over to iPhones. Apparently Apple just won’t take NO for an answer, “Just download the Move to iOS app to wirelessly switch from your Android device to your new iOS device.” This app will come out with iOS 9 later on this year. Just prepare yourself on seeing Apple trying to be a part of everything and anything.

Tim Cook Set to Give Entire Fortune to Charity

Apple CEO Tim Cook is, as one would expect, very wealthy. However, money doesn’t seem to be what is important to him. Cook has decided to use his money to pay for his nephew’s college education and then donate the rest of it to charity. There is a long list of wealthy philanthropists who donate most of their money to charity, and now he is joining in to make the list a little longer.

CNN says that his wealth is close to about a billion dollars. That is a ton of money to earn just to give it away. But, this goes along with what Steve Jobs and Apple have been about all along. Apple started out as a little indie company full of love with the desire to break down the boundaries and limits, to think outside the box, and to keep things simple and give back whenever they could. Tim Cook gave this statement on Jobs’ attitude toward everything in a recent interview with Fast Company:

“Steve felt that most people live in a small box. They think they can’t influence or change things a lot. I think he would probably call that a limited life. And more than anybody I’ve ever met, Steve never accepted that. He got each of us [his top executives] to reject that philosophy. If you can do that, then you can change things. If you embrace that the things that you can do are limitless, you can put your ding in the universe. You can change the world. That was the huge arc of his life, the common thread. That’s what drove him to have big ideas. Through his actions, way more than any preaching, he embedded this nonacceptance of the status quo into the company.”

There have been plenty of former CEOs that have given away a huge chunk of wealth to charitable causes. Bill Gates and Warren Buffett both did the exact same thing. The most famous, and probably the first was Chuck Feeney, the former CEO of Duty Free Shoppers. He was famous for saving his money, wearing cheap clothes and flying coach when he obviously didn’t need to. He put $4 billion into his Atlantic Philanthropist charitable trust which will be completely depleted before his death. After he did that, he has lived quietly and modestly ever since.

According to CEO of New York City nonprofit Living Cities Ben Hecht, “We’re seeing all this new wealth, especially West Coast wealth and technology wealth, which doesn’t necessarily have a place tied to it. They just have very different sensibilities. Many of them don’t have any interest in building a perpetual institution. I think it’s not in their culture. They want to give it away, and they want to be active in giving it away.”

What Apple is Planning for the Rest of 2015

After being a little more quiet than they have been in the past, Apple has come back stronger than ever. They spent a whole year without even having a new product category, which isn’t like them at all. Launch events were feeling bland and forced, but in 2014 all of that changed.

The rollout event for the iPhone 6 was a huge deal. It was exciting, entertaining, and even sparked up some controversy that was actually really good for the company as a whole. After a year of nothing, Apple sprang right back to the top and owned the entire tech market once again.

Like anything though, the excitement of the iPhone 6 has finally worn off. But that’s ok because Apple is excited about what they have in store for the rest of this year.

Apple announced their partnership with IBM. This is a big deal. Apple really isn’t any stranger to the enterprise world, but a lot of the devices end up there just because employees prefer to use them and bring them in. It has been a slow process because they need to develop all of the necessary apps, but the Apple/IBM partnership is going to be seriously huge for both companies. Especially with the release of the infamous 12 inch iPad Pro coming out.

They were supposed to release the iPad Pro last year, but put it on hold to keep up with iPhone 6 demand and production. It’s almost guaranteed to come out this year, but rumor has it that it won’t really be available to the regular customer. It will probably be exclusively sent to companies to use and replace a lot of computers.

That’s not the only thing Apple has going for them this year. We all know that the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus are going to come out by the end of this year. They will probably look exactly like the current models but come with a way faster processor, a better camera, and some new software. This is cool because when Apple put out the current processor in their phones, it was the best and fastest on the market by a lot. Are they going to crush the competition again this year with a crazy new chip? Probably. Hopefully. Almost certainly.

Let us also not forget that Apple bought Beats By Dre. No one really knows exactly what they are going to do with the company, but everything will be revealed later this year. With the Beats music streaming, it would seem like it would be a conflict with iTunes and iTunes radio and all. It will be very interesting to see what Apple does with this and how they integrate the two music services.

All of the Apple Home and Health stuff that we have been hearing so much about will finally come into existence this year as well. Right now we only have a Health app, which isn’t really enough to give us any huge clues as to what to expect.

Either way, one thing is for sure: it is going to be a huge year for Apple, and there is a ton to be excited about.

New Kickstarters For Apple Devices Let You Charge Your Device With Fire And Take Pictures In Complete Darkness

PowerPot X

The PowerPot X is a pretty good name for this new device, as it is basically a pot that provides electricity. You pair it with a camp stove and thermoelectric modules on the bottom of the anodized aluminum kettle can give 10 watts to the PowerPot’s dual USB ports. The creator says that this is enough to charge one iPad or two iPhones.

The PowerPot comes in two sizes: The 4 quart PowerPot XL and the 2.4 quart PowerPot X. Other products like this have been popping up on Kickstarter like the FlameStower, which is basically the same thing but a little bit smaller with a little less power.

To make sure that your iPhones get an even, predictable flow of electricity, the power passes through a regulator before it reaches the USB ports. The regulator also has a built in power meter with LED lights arranged in a triangle design that shows how much power is flowing.

Currently, the Kickstarter campaign has raised more than it’s goal of $30,000 and still has 36 days left. It is set to start shipping out in May 2014.

Lightstrap

The new Apple iPhone 5s has a pretty great camera with a redesigned lens and dual LED flash, it is certainly capable of taking “acceptable” photos in a low light setting. But what about situations where that isn’t enough?

ls

The Lightstrap is a nifty case that has a built in flash that wraps all the way around the back of the case. It is built to mimic a professional flash ring that photographers would use. This type of flash will allow you to take much higher quality low light photos, and it pops right on the back of your iPhone and protects it just like any other case. It even looks good.

The Lightstrap lets you get pretty in depth. You can choose from seven brightness levels and six different color temperatures. The flash is 10 times brighter than the one built into your iPhone 5s, 15 times brighter than an iPhone 5, and 30 times brighter than the 5s’s video mode LED. The Lightstrap has its own built in 1000 mAh battery, and on a full charge can take about 500 photos or about 30 minutes of video. It can be recharged with a standard USB cable.

The 16-millimeter thick, 2.5-ounce accessory does not require a specialty camera app — Lightstrap is triggered by the iPhone’s built-in LED flash.

The retail price will be $97 dollars and it is set to ship out in April of 2014.

No Downgrades For You!

iOS7 No Downgrade For YouIf that title reminds you of the “Soup Nazi” from Seinfled, well it should. And that’s pretty much what’s going on here. As of last week Apple has closed the path to downgrade from iOS7 to it’s earlier versions of iOS 6. And by “closed” I mean it’s gone, you can’t do that, it’s not going to happen fanboy!

What this means for you is that if you’re not real fond of iOS 7 on your new iPad, iPod, etc. then tough tablets! And if you have an older Apple device and you thought you would try iOS7, because that’s what people do, they try things, once you’ve installed it you better learn to love it! Or to quote the headline on a readwrite.com post, “You Can Upgrade Anytime You Like, But You Can Never Leave”. (Insert Don Felder guitar solo from Hotel California)

Should this news be too much for you to live with.. there are always options, extreme though they may be. You could attempt to design the first jailbreak that solves this dilemma, or you could simply buy an older piece of hardware with your favorite version of iOS 6 still installed.

Sadly, if you are not a fan of iOS7 Apple has created the very definition of dilemma – a situation necessitating a choice between two equal, esp equally undesirable, alternatives. But that’s the way the upgrade crumbles!
