The Truth About The iPhone 6 Plus

Ever since Apple released its latest model, the iPhone 6 and 6 plus, rumors have been crowding the internet with videos, blog posts and reactions about the iPhone 6 plus bending. So what’s the deal? Does the iPhone actually bend easily?

The answer is simply no. All of the videos and claims about the new iPhone 6 bending are over dramatized to a point where it makes the phone look bad to consumers. A major problem with the new iPhones is that people are continuing to bend their new iPhones to deliberately prove the point. There is absolutely no need to intentionally spend hundreds of dollars on a cellphone just to create a video to make Apple look bad. Dramatic force has to be applied for anything to bend or break of course.

Because of the uproar, Apple has directly responded to their consumers about the issue: “Our iPhones are designed, engineered and manufactured to be both beautiful and sturdy. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus feature a precision engineered unibody enclosure constructed from machining a custom grade of 6000 series anodized aluminum, which is tempered for extra strength. They also feature stainless steel and titanium inserts to reinforce high stress locations and use the strongest glass in the smartphone industry. We chose these high-quality materials and construction very carefully for their strength and durability. We also perform rigorous tests throughout the entire development cycle including 3-point bending, pressure point cycling, sit, torsion, and user studies. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus meet or exceed all of our high quality standards to endure everyday, real life use.

Looking at the iPhone 6 Plus as a whole, there is a pressure point near the center of the phone that may not been tested properly due to the thin design.

With normal use a bend in iPhone is extremely rare and through our first six days of sale, a total of nine customers have contacted Apple with a bent iPhone 6 Plus. As with any Apple product, if you have questions please contact Apple.”

With that being said, all cellular devices must be handled with care, but the design of the new iPhone 6 plus is noted for design imperfections if treated incorrectly. Looking at the iPhone 6 Plus as a whole, there is a pressure point near the center of the phone that may not been tested properly due to the thin design. But, it all breaks down to the simple common sense statement of; things will bend if you bend them.

When iCloud was first introduced back in 2011, many users were confused of all of its features and how to properly store information off their Mac, iPhone, iPad and iTouch. It works as a way to store and save any personal information from contacts, notes, photos an apps. Although iCloud is compared to other digital services such as Dropbox, Google Drive, and Microsoft’s SkyDrive, iCloud has many unique features that other services might not have. Many users do not know how to keep up with iCloud or use it to its full potential. Here are a few ways to be extra productive using your iCloud.

1. iCloud Keychain
Beginning with iOS 7, Apple introduced a brand new way of keeping passwords and important information synced between Safari on the Mac computers and iOS 7. The best part of this keychain feature is that it makes it easy to store any passwords you create for all the websites you visit daily. The iCloud Keychain can store login information for any specific applications, that means instead of having to write down any login information on a notepad, or even worse forgetting your password and having to go through the recovery process; iCloud Keychain lets you fill in any details on the Mac and iOS 7.

2. Share Documents With iClouDrive
The free iCloud app, iClouDrive, makes it easy to create a new folder that synces with iCloud and is stored on your Mac computer. The app works by creating a special folder where all your iCloud files are stored on your Mac, then puts an alias to that folder where it is then stored inside your computer’s documents folder.

3. Keep Track Of All Your Devices
Did you know that Find My iPhone and Find My Mac are built into iCloud.com? Logging in to the special service lets you locate any of your Apple devices, send messages and request that the device plays a sound to locate it.

4. Use iWork To Create And Collaborate
Good news, Apple is now offering all of its iWork apps for free on the Mac and iOS with any new device purchase. Even better, iWork for iCloud brings the experience to the web. You can create and edit any documents by logging in to iCloud.com Users without an iCloud account can be invited to collaborate on an existing document. Signing up for an iCloud account is totally free as well. Think of iWork as something like Microsoft’s Office 365, but with Apple’s system.

Always have trouble conserving your iPhone battery life? No worries, a better solution is in the works. In the next few years we may start to see batteries pull energy from the air and power themselves through Wi-Fi signals, or even our body movement. For many years, Apple’s engineers have tried to build a battery for iPhone users by adding solar charging to iPods and iPhones. Recently, Apple announced that they are continuing with the solar power experimenting. The race is on to find a better solution at battery life with smartphones. Most consumers say that with all the apps they are using their battery dies on an every day basis while they are on the go.It’s 2014, we do have the technology but the problem is that it is hard to ensure safety of many new power technologies. A faulty battery could turn into a miniature bomb! Revamping the smartphone battery so it will last longer requires exhaustive testing before it can hit the store shelves.

In the fall Apple will be posting a job listing seeking engineers who specialize in solar energy. Many experiments to find the best answer to saving battery life on Apple products are in the works this year.Another experiment Apple is involved with is actually charging the battery through movement, which is a method already used in many modern watches. How does this even work? By swinging your arm, a tiny charging station is activated that generates power to the device. Charging your phone while exercising may be the new million dollar idea for people to stay healthy!

The iPhone 5S/5C, What’s The Difference?

As we all know, Apple comes out with a new upgrade or device every few months. Most people can’t keep up with the constant advances. But, recently Apple launched it’s new iPhone 5, not too long ago. Since then it’s been restyled and perfected into the most high-tech smartphone up to date. There are two types, the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C, but what’s that differences between the two? Understanding the differences in these two phones can be tricky, except the obvious difference, the new color choices of the phones. The iPhone 5C is rumored to be Apple’s “low-cost” iPhone choice for consumers.  Prices depend on how many GB you purchase. A 16GB is around $100 USD, and a 32GB is priced around $199 USD. The iPhone 5S is more expensive, ranging from $199-$399 USD when purchased with a two-year contract. The iPhone 5S also offers more storage options, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB being the largest storage capacity.

Most differences are in the phone’s hardware inside the phone. Both models are quite fast, but the iPhone 5S has a faster processor than the 5C. If you like colored phones, then the 5C is for you. The 5C uses a plastic body that comes in multiple bright color choices (blue, red, yellow, green, white), where as the 5S uses a metal body in only three colors (white, black, gold). The newest high-tech advance on the 5S is the built in fingerprint scanner on the home button on the front of the phone and the new camera features. The fingerprint ID scanner provides extra security rather than just entering a passcode to unlock your cellphone.

The iPhone 5C still has two cameras, like the 5S, one on the front and one on the back. The user-facing camera on the 5C is a 1.2 megapixel camera with 720p HD video, while the back camera is a 8 megapixel camera and can take 1080p HD video recordings.

Whether you find yourself a colorful iPhone 5C user, or high-tech 5S smartphone user, both iPhone’s perform basically the same with differences in quality, how quickly information loads and different features. Overall, the iPhone 5S has been the most popular choice amongst consumers for the upcoming holiday season. Many users of the iPhone 5S report positive feedback about its performance.
